The Data Science Internship Challenge

Data science, analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence have become attractive tags for career choices. The education industry has responded by creating courses for it. In the industry, we continue to hunger for the talent required for the real work in this exciting frontier of industry.

An internship is supposed to be a "learning by doing” experience. In an internship, therefore, you’re going to be assigned to doing the work that you’re ready to do. The closer to zero your initial skills, the lower the learning effect. Before applying for an internship, therefore, you should learn some of the required skills.

Our internship is a full-time, remote, paid internship for three months. Good performance in the internship will earn you a full-time job offer.

Here is the Data Science Internship Challenge: learn to get and analyze data from Google Analytics. It is an assignment that serves as a test for your skills and talent.

Objective of the assignment: The domain owner of https://www.cobotsystems.com/ would like to know what’s happening on their website. Extract the data using the Google Analytics API, and build a report (with graphs, tables, or both) for daily sessions and users in the past 90 days.

Steps to do the assignment:

1. Set up a service account that can receive data from the Google Analytics API. Read the Google Analytics API documentation, available online, on how to do this.
2. Email the service account ID to hr@cobotsystems.com to grant read & analyze permissions to it in the Google Analytics account for cobotsystems.com.
3. Use Python and pandas to do the data extraction and preparation, and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for the reporting (graphs, tables, etc.). When you are satisfied with your solution, please share your Python code as a notebook file (for us to load and try out) and your report as a spreadsheet. Email the notebook and the report to hr@cobotsystems.com. If you don't know how to use spreadsheets for data analysis, learn it, it's a required skill.
4. We will review your assignment to determine if you should be called for an interview. We will assess the quality of the code as well as the caliber of the analysis. The analysis requested above is the basic requirement. We will revert to you if your work positions you as an attractive candidate for us.
